in a system designed to kill people,
there was an opening to teach math to the tribes
Lol, judging by the aged look of the page edges, i'd say that textbook might be a little outdated ;)
I'm also curious about why your students need to know the global distribution of cattle...Is education that isn't useful in a local context mostly just a waste of money?
Kabir, I wish the educational content were more relevant to the students as well. I remember in the movive Stand and Deliver, the teacher uses examples of whores and pimps so that the students have a better understanding.Kabir, you're way ahead though. The way the book is organized, the secondary school mathematics syllabus, the inability to provide books, are more pressing needs. The government is just not serious about education, maybe just a tad bit.
Tommy, for some reason I'm weirded out by the way you started both of the above paragraphs.Tommy, the lack of government attention to education does seem like a major problem. But surely the type of education provided should be simultaneously addressed (along with allocations, delivery mechanisms etc)
Kabir, "simultaneously addressed" is indeed true. I think "false priorities" should join the ranks of "false dichotomies."Kabir, I just wanted to start another paragrapht his way.
